Meet our outstanding 2017 SD State Youth of the Year!

Thursday, February 9, 2017

We are proud to announce Zoe Frauen as our 2017 South Dakota State Youth of the Year!

Zoe is intelligent, resilient, and kind: community-minded, wise, and knows just how hard life was in this town before the Club opened.

"I am a difference maker. I talk about real life issues, support my peers and help my community. I want to fight hunger and homelessness, set goals for my future, and change lives with the Club. I know how hard life was in this town before the Club opened, and that I could have been a casualty of circumstance. Instead I found the Club and found myself. I made choices that put me on track to be a success. I know the change that the Club has made in me, and the change that I can make in the world." - Zoe, 10th Grade, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Black Hills

Selected among nine other outstanding youth in the South Dakota state competition , Zoe Frauen has been named the 2017 South Dakota State Youth of the Year by Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Youth of the Year is a national Boys and Girls Club program that honors and celebrates the most inspiring teens and their incredible journeys at the local, state and national level.  As the South Dakota Youth of the Year, Zoe will serve as an ambassador for all teens in the state, will receive a $5,000 college scholarship from Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and will go on to vie for the regional Youth of the Year and ultimately the national title.

Zoe looks forward to a future of serving and leading as an ambassador for Boys & Girls Clubs and will continue to encourage young people across the Black Hills to become leaders in their Clubs, families and communities. This year will undoubtedly be filled with countless, incredible opportunities that would not be possible without the Club and donors like you.
