Lisa Sagdalen | Chief Executive Officer
Lisa, our leader; she’s a lot of fun and knows these Clubs inside and out. She’s been with BGCBH for more than fifteen years: as a volunteer, a parent, part-time staff and now our Chief Executive Officer. As our fearless leader, she has grown BGCBH to include our three fantastic sites and brought our tiniest members on board by starting the preschool program in Hill City. Lisa grew up in Montana but has made a home in the Black Hills — earning her degree from National College in Rapid City and keeping the Club busy, busy. We are glad we have her!
Lorelei Ball | Director of Operations
My name is Lorelei Ball, and I am the Director of Operation for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Black Hills. Growing up as one of fourteen children, having three children of my own, and over 100 nieces and nephews, I am no stranger to caring for and mentoring children. I owned and operated a daycare for 7 years. For the last 12 years, I have worked for two surgeons managing their surgical staff while caring for patients and coordinating treatment. Helping to make a safe and happy place for children and young adults is very important to me and I am excited to be working in a field where I have a chance to make a difference. When not at the clubs, I enjoy reading, a good movie, having fun with my grandchildren, children, and their partners, and cooking for friends and family. I am looking forward to meeting new people and helping to grow the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hill City, Lead, and Hot Springs SD.
Roni Prautzsch | Director of Programming and Impact
Hi! My name is Roni and I’ve been with the Club since 2012. I have a passion for helping youth grow and encouraging them to be themselves and have fun! I bring a lot of international experience in youth programs and have a diverse career background. I enjoy pulling programs together to introduce to the youth. Creating successful programming is my goal.
Staff know her as the program guru, and the kids affectionately call her a “crazy science freak.” Stop by the Club and you might find Roni in her lab coat exploding things at science club or rocking out in the Teen Center. You can always count on Roni!
Rachel Patrie | Hill City Club Director
With over 15 years of experience in the childcare field, I’m passionate about fostering growth and creating meaningful connections with youth. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education with a specialization in child behavior, which has shaped my approach to nurturing children’s development. Originally from Bismarck, North Dakota, I come from a family of educators who inspired my dedication to empowering young minds. Beyond my professional life, I express my creativity through art and music and embrace an active lifestyle by practicing yoga and rock climbing. I am excited to bring my experience, creativity, and enthusiasm to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Black Hills, where I aim to make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of the youth we serve.
Mattelyn Montoya | Hot Springs Club Director
Hello, I am Mattelyn, the Club Director for The Boys & Girls Club of Hot Springs. My husband, our 4 children, and I moved to South Dakota in 2023 from Kyle, Texas, where we lived our entire lives. We wanted to be closer to family and enjoy all that is offered outdoors here. Back in Texas, my husband and I had a successful tattoo, piercing, and permanent make-up studio, where we apprenticed aspiring artists helping them to achieve their artistic abilities. We decided to bring our passion here. Little did we know, so much more was in store. With over 20 years of experience in childcare, my number one passion will always be looking after our youth! With this and my love for art, I am so excited for all that is to come.
Kate Walles | Lead-Deadwood Club Director
My name is Kate, and I am the Club Director for The Boys & Girls Club of Lead. In 2020, my family and I relocated to South Dakota from Oklahoma City, where I was stationed with the Air National Guard. Our move was driven by a desire to be closer to family and provide our children with the opportunity to grow up alongside their cousins. I bring over 16 years of experience in childcare and youth development, along with a background in organizing curriculum for youth in larger organizations. Our family is passionate about the outdoors and cherishes the time we spend together. We feel incredibly fortunate to call South Dakota our home, and I am thrilled to be part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Black Hills. I look forward to working with the Lead community to provide a safe, enriching, and engaging environment for our youth.

I have been with the club since May of 2017. I found a love for helping little kids learn and became the Preschool Teacher soon after.
